KVC Health Systems Website Design Development - Johnny Lightning Strikes Again

The month of May has been a busy one. This month, we marked the end of a phenomenal project by launching a brand new website for KVC Health Systems—a locally-based nonprofit organization that does really great work for kids and families throughout the country.

After closely working with them for more than a year, KVC now has a family of six websites all newly branded with a handmade look and a message that “People Matter.”

Kansas City Streetcar Website Design Development - Johnny Lightning Strikes Again

As people who love downtown Kansas City, we believe there’s no more important project for the future of the city than the construction of the streetcar starter line. So when we were selected to design the new kcstreetcar.org, we were both tremendously excited and extremely proud.

Fetch Website Design, Development, and Branding - Johnny Lightning Strikes Again

One of the most important questions we answer for our clients is how creative services can be leveraged to achieve their objectives. They know what an agency does, but they want to know what an agency can do for them. Since a lot of creative is subjective, we often find ourselves talking about intangible benefits — customer loyalty, emotional connection, and trust. Intangible benefits aren’t the whole story, however. Creative services, especially web and application development, can also provide a business with functional tools that make life easier.

Lyndsey Higgins, Co-Founder of Team Cocktail, was nice enough to write a little bit about their experience working with us on their branding, clothing, and web design project:

Team Cocktail Website Design - Clothing Branding Detail - Johny Lightning Strikes Again

UPDATE: The business for Team Cocktail kept growing, so they came to us for a website design reboot! Check out our latest work for them in our Team Cocktail case study and portfolio.

When a company engages us to solve a problem facing their business, one of the questions we have to answer is, “Does this company LOOK like who they are and what they’re doing?” Team Cocktail, a clothing and accessory company, asks a similar question to people who are out to have fun: “Do you LOOK like it?” If not, they offer a full line of products, designed by Johnny Lightning Strikes Again, for sale on their e-commerce website, also designed and developed by Johnny Lightning Strikes Again.

Make it snow

Scotwood Industries Web Design & Development - Johnny Lightning Strikes Again

Scotwood Industries is the largest supplier of ice-melt in the nation.  If you live in a part of the country where snow and ice regularly assault your winter months, you’ve almost certainly used their products.

Jamie Kosoy wrote a great article that puts the HTML5 vs Flash “conflict” into perspective wonderfully:

Pretend you were that student of mine, and pretend you started school 4 years ago. It’s your senior year now. In your freshman year, Twitter had just started. Facebook was approaching its first birthday – everyone was on MySpace. There was no whiff of a rumor of an iPhone. The mobile revolution was a pipe dream. Multi touch and gestural navigation wasn’t even a remote possibility.

He explains how it isn’t simply a matter of how viable either of the technologies are, it is a matter of the attitude with which you approach the entire digital ecosystem.

It’s gotten easier and it’s gotten harder simultaneously. There is only one way to maintain in that landscape, and that is to keep an open mind.

And the best part is these attitudes are important to everyone – client, designer, and developer alike.

When the road hurts…

Posted in News on by JLSA

One of our favorite non-creative related activities is running.  At some point or another, all of us have been bitten by the running bug – the undeniable call to take to the pavement and push yourself to the limit.  The experience of traveling miles and miles under your own power, listening to nothing but the sound of your thoughts and your feet on the road is all very romantic, actually.  Until, that is, you wake up the next morning and realize that your body isn’t what it used to be and you’re in quite a lot of pain.  For that reason, when we were contacted by Dr. Jesse Walden of Quest Chiropractic Center to design and develop a new website for his practice, we felt that the road to understanding his target audience wouldn’t be a long one.

Can you guess the purpose of today’s post?  Yes!  We’re here to announce the launch of the new Quest Chiropractic Center website, lovingly created by Johnny Lightning Strikes Again.

Client review from 801 Chophouse

Posted in News on by JLSA

Chris Dennis, the Head Chef at 801 Chophouse in downtown Kansas City, recently reviewed us on Google. He had such nice things to say about our web design project together that we couldn’t help but repost it here:

These guys know what they are doing! We used JLSA to develop and maintain our new website (http://www.801chophouse.com). I believe they are certainly the best Kansas City has to offer, and their firm could easily compete with larger firms as far as knowledge and ability. With JLSA you are getting large, professional web firm ability and reach, without losing the personal, local touch that we sometimes wish was still around. I would recommend JLSA for all your design and web needs. They took the time to listen to our ideas, about what we wanted on the site and how we would like to see it presented. Using anyone else would be a complete waste of time and money.

Thanks, Chris! You make delicious food.

Client review from Republic Tile

Brad Duff, the Owner of Republic Tile, had some nice things to say about his experience working with us on Republic Tile’s branding & website project:

Our company, Republic Tile, used Johnny Lightning Strikes Again for brand and website development. We are very pleased with the the results and have received numerous compliments for the work they did for us. JLSA was very organized, detailed and efficient. They are very good in laying out a comprehensive plan as to how they are going to work towards completion of the project. I always knew where we were in the process, and they kept on schedule for the duration. We will use them again for future opportunities.

Thanks, Brad!
